Intro to GD I:
Travel Poster

Background

This project was given to the Introduction to Graphic Design I class at Virginia Tech. This work was created by sophomores.

Description

I asked students to design a travel poster highlighting a little known or fictional destination. They were also given the option to put their spin on a well-known tourist spot. Each student researched designer and illustrators, art movements, and past travel posters. For most this provided a visual style.

Students worked through sketches before moving to the computer. Composition, color, and hand skills were the fundamental elements I targeted. Conceptual thinking, iteration, and typographic exploration were also pushed.
